Guardian Newspaper Task Process

I started the process of creating my newspaper front cover by observing other previous official front pages of the Guardian:

From viewing these covers, and also studying the newspaper, I was able to identify key features and the house style of the front pages that I could use in my own edition.

For the splash, I decided to use a current affair to represent the zeitgeist. I wrote the article keeping in mind the editorial viewpoint of the newspaper and the style in which their columns are placed (five across the page).

Once I had written the article, I then decided on a headline to give the audience an insight into the issue.

I also featured my name and location and two dots; black and red with the page number to indicate where more about the affair was featured inside the paper to match the real papers. 

The Guardian features hard news stories such as politics, the environment, education and science, so these articles fit well into the ideology of the paper.

Below the fold, I featured an article about another current issue in the world; the Australia wildfires.

Again, I used the same icons, font and layout to match the house style of the paper.
